『指輪物語』、『ビッグ・アップル』、『プラネット・アース』という3つの交響曲のほか、『エクストリーム・メイク=オーヴァー』が大きな話題となっているオランダの作曲家ヨハン・デメイ(Johan de Meij、1953 -)が、<オランダ・ウィンド・ミュージック賞2007(Dutch Wind Music Award 2007 / Nederlandse Blaasmuziekprijs 2007)>に輝いた。
同賞は、“クンストファクトール・ムジーク”“世界音楽コンクール(WMC)”“オランダ指揮者ユニオン(BVD)”という3つの音楽組織から、2年に一度、オランダのウィンド・ミュージックの世界的ステータスを高めた貢献者に対して贈られる音楽賞で、過去2回の受賞者は、元オランダ王国海軍バンド指揮者で作曲家のヘンク・ファン=レインスホーテン(2003年受賞)、同じく同指揮者のヤープ・コープス(2005年受賞)だった。デメイへの受賞は、交響曲第1番『指輪物語』の世界的な成功と、その後の継続的な作品の発表を通じての活動が認められてのものだった。
授章セレモニーは、2007年11月25日、オランダ・ケレルクラーデのロダ・ハルで行われた「オランダ・オープン選手権コンサート部門(Open Nederlandse Kampioenschappen)」(通称:ミニWMC)の会場で行われ、受賞者デメイには、賞状とともに、賞金3500ユーロ、および『指輪物語』の主題の最初の6つの音が刻み込まれた“ザ・サウンド・オブ・ウィンズ・イン・クリスタル”という特製クリスタル・アートの記念品が贈られた。
ヨハン・デメイ。何をやっても、その話題は常にビッグ・クラス!! 今後のますますの活躍を期待したい!!
